4 Days from Tangier to Marrakech Exploring Chafchaouen and Asilah

Your 4-day journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Tangier. We’ll start with a brief orientation tour of Tangier, visiting the Cape Spartel where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, and the Hercules Caves with their legendary connections. Then we drive south along the beautiful Atlantic coast to the charming town of Asilah. Known for its beautiful whitewashed buildings and colorful murals, Asilah is an artistic haven. Explore the medina, the Portuguese fortifications, and enjoy the coastal views. After lunch, we continue inland to the Rif Mountains, arriving in Chefchaouen in the late afternoon. Check into your hotel and enjoy your first evening exploring the magical blue-washed streets of this unique mountain town. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City.” Explore the picturesque medina with its narrow blue alleyways, visit the main square (Place Outa el Hammam), and see the Grand Mosque. You’ll have free time to wander through the blue streets, shop for local handicrafts, or relax at a café. After lunch, we depart for Fes, stopping at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the well-preserved archaeological site with its beautiful mosaics and Roman architecture. Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, where we’ll visit the impressive Bab Mansour gate and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Arrive in Fes in the evening and check into your hotel. After breakfast, enjoy a full day guided tour of Fes, one of Morocco’s most fascinating imperial cities. Explore the medieval medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s largest living medieval cities. Visit the famous Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, the Bou Inania Madrasa, and the traditional tanneries where leather is still produced using ancient methods. Wander through the colorful souks, where you can purchase local crafts and spices. Visit the Royal Palace and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in the medina. In the afternoon, visit the pottery cooperative to see how traditional ceramics are made. Enjoy free time in the late afternoon to explore on your own or relax at your riad. Overnight in Fes.

After breakfast, we begin our journey to Marrakech, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. We’ll drive through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its unique alpine-style architecture. Stop in the cedar forests of Azrou to see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Continue through the mountains, stopping for lunch. As we approach Marrakech, the landscape changes from mountains to plains. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your 4-day journey from Tangier to Marrakech.
