About This Tour

14 Days from Casablanca via Desert Sahara SAHARA GRAND – Experience the ultimate Moroccan journey from the Atlantic to the Sahara and the High Atlas. This 14-day private tour combines imperial cities, the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes, dramatic gorges, and vibrant Marrakech.

Your adventure begins in Casablanca, visiting the modern Hassan II mosque. Continue to Rabat, then explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial cities Meknes and Fes. From Fes, we cross the Middle Atlas mountains to reach the Sahara desert near Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek to a luxury desert camp, watch the sunset over the dunes, and listen to Berber drums under the stars.

After the desert, we explore the Todgha Gorges, Dades Valley, and the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Benhaddou before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech. After guided tours and free time in the Red City, we drive to the coastal town Essaouira, then return to Casablanca for departure. This itinerary is designed to show the best of Morocco in two weeks, with a perfect balance of culture, nature, and relaxation.

Itinerary
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat

Arrival at Casablanca airport, visit the magnificent Hassan II mosque (exterior). Then drive to Rabat, the capital. Visit the Royal Palace gate, Chellah necropolis, and Hassan Tower. Overnight in Rabat.

Day 2: Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

After breakfast, drive to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Explore Bab Mansour and the granaries. Continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO). Arrive in Fes in the evening. Overnight in Fes.

Day 3: Fes Guided Tour

Full-day exploration of Fes medina (UNESCO). Visit Al-Qarawiyyin University, Bou Inania madrasa, the tanneries, and the souks. Lunch at a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Fes.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Cross the Middle Atlas, passing Ifrane (Switzerland of Morocco) and the cedar forest of Azrou (see Barbary macaques). Stop for lunch in Midelt, then continue through the Ziz Gorge. Arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara. Overnight at a hotel near the dunes.

Day 5: Merzouga – Camel Trek & Luxury Desert Camp

In the late afternoon, ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset. Reach the desert camp, enjoy a traditional dinner, and listen to Berber music around the campfire. Overnight in a nomad tent (private).

Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Todgha Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early for sunrise over the dunes, then camel ride back. After breakfast, visit Rissani’s market and Khamlia Gnawa village. Drive through the Todgha Gorges (high canyon walls). Continue to the Dades Valley. Overnight in a Dades riad.

Day 7: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou

Drive through the valley of roses (Kelaa M’Gouna) and reach Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco. Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas film studios. Continue to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah (UNESCO). Overnight near the kasbah.

Day 8: Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m), stopping for panoramic views. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon. Check into your riad. Evening free to explore Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 9: Marrakech Guided Tour

Full-day tour of Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, and the vibrant souks. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 10: Marrakech – Free Day

Day at leisure. Optional: hot air balloon ride, Majorelle Garden, or cooking class. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira

Drive to the Atlantic coast, to the charming town of Essaouira. Explore the medina, the port, and the ramparts. Overnight in Essaouira.

Day 12: Essaouira – Safi – El Jadida – Casablanca

Coastal drive with stops in Safi (pottery town) and El Jadida (Portuguese cistern). Arrive in Casablanca by evening. Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 13: Casablanca – Free Day & Farewell Dinner

Leisure day to explore the Corniche or visit the Hassan II mosque interior. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight in Casablanca.
